{"id":10397,"date":"2016-06-21T12:07:58","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T12:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=10394&amp;preview_id=10394"},"modified":"2016-06-21T12:07:58","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T12:07:58","slug":"anti-india-vatican-now-cannot-fund-local-organisations-without-govt-permission-jagruk-bharat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=10397","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Anti-India&#8221; Vatican Now Cannot Fund Local Organisations Without Govt Permission &#8211; Jagruk Bharat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A Vatican charity has been accused of indulging in \u201canti-India activities\u201d and has been included in a list of entities that can\u2019t fund local organisations without permission.<\/p>\n<p>Top Government sources have\u00a0said\u00a0that Caritas Internationalis has been placed in the \u201cprior permission category.\u201d It means the arm of the Vatican can no longer receive foreign funding\u00a0 without prior clearance from the Government.<\/p>\n<p>Teesta Setalvad\u2019s Sabrang International, Unity for Peace &amp; Justice will also not be allowed to receive foreign funding anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Both Caritas Internationalis and Ms Setalvad\u2019s organizations have been charged for using foreign money to fund political activity \u2013 which is considered to be a major violation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act ( FCRA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been filing all our returns, documents in time according to law.\u00a0 We necessarily don\u2019t find this a hindrance because we anyway declare all our funding to the government,\u201d Father Paul V Moonjely, Assistant Executive Director of Caritas India told\u00a0 NDTV adding that the organization was partnering with the Union Health ministry in anti- malarial campaigns across the north-eastern states. Besides working on National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), the organization works with over 300 other NGOs, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Top officials said that as many as 100 more NGO are likely to face similar action and another 1000 odd are being investigated .<\/p>\n<p>The Union Home Ministry has asked to all states to direct all financial institutions, including banks in their jurisdiction, to keep a close watch on foreign funding to NGOs.\u00a0 Sources have told\u00a0us\u00a0that the ministry is investigating over 1000 NGOs for allegedly misusing foreign funds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.resettlement.eu\/sites\/icmc.tttp.eu\/files\/Caritas Inter+signe Q_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2343\" height=\"692\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caritas Internationalis logo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In April, the US-based charity Ford Foundation was also placed on the watch-list stopped from funding local organisations without permission.
