{"id":10948,"date":"2016-07-15T08:34:02","date_gmt":"2016-07-15T08:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=10945&amp;preview_id=10945"},"modified":"2016-07-15T08:34:02","modified_gmt":"2016-07-15T08:34:02","slug":"statues-stolen-from-chinese-temple-in-penang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=10948","title":{"rendered":"Statues stolen from Chinese temple in Penang | Free Malaysia Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"post-677453\">\n<div class=\"storycontent-post\">\n<p>PETALING JAYA: Two century-old statues were reported stolen from a Chinese temple in Bayan Baru here.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past two months, four Hindu temples have been attacked, with statues destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Police have set up a high-level team to investigate these cases.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the Chinese temple, the statues of child deities \u201cNazha\u201d and \u201cSan Cai Tong Zi\u201d, which had crowns and an armour of gold, were stolen from the Lam Sun Shih Temple in Sungai Nibong Kecil.<\/p>\n<p>Star Online reported that the theft could have happened between 7am and noon on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The news portal interviewed temple owner Poh Teik Chye, 63, who said he left his house in the morning with his wife.<\/p>\n<p>When he returned at noon, he found that the lock had been cut and the door wide open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two idols were missing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn antique box used for donations was also missing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was more than RM1,000 in the box, which was over 80 years old.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PETALING JAYA: Two century-old statues were reported stolen from a Chinese temple in Bayan Baru here.
