The fire was noticed after the temple was closed following the completion of the daily poojas. Fire tenders drawn from several stations like Shornur, Chittur and Alathur have rushed to the spot.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports indicated that the temple must have caught fire from the lamps lit up as part of the\u00a0Chuttuvilakku programme\u00a0held this evening.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Thrissur Rural SP Yathish Chandra\u00a0who was rushing to the spot said as per the information received by him the fire has been brought under control by about 10.15 pm. The extent of damage is being assessed. The Police has locked up the gold and cash stocked in the temple, he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the local residents the temple is a rare pilgrim centre where both Sree Rama and Lakshamana are worshipped.
