{"id":11754,"date":"2016-07-17T13:00:05","date_gmt":"2016-07-17T13:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=11751&amp;preview_id=11751"},"modified":"2016-07-17T13:00:05","modified_gmt":"2016-07-17T13:00:05","slug":"eye-on-future-rss-gets-tech-savy-to-attract-youngsters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=11754","title":{"rendered":"Eye on future, RSS gets tech savy to attract youngsters | The Indian Express"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Eager to shake off its conservative image, the RSS is looking to attract youngsters into its fold, especially IT professionals and engineers, and has launched a host of measures, including an offer of online membership.<\/p>\n<p>The saffron outfit, which had recently eschewed its traditional attire of khaki shorts in favour of full pants, is also trying to inculcate in youngsters under the age of 18, \u2018values\u2019 like \u2018patriotism\u2019 and \u2018nationalism\u2019 through its \u2018Bal Bharati\u2019 and \u2018Bal Gokul\u2019 programs.<\/p>\n<p>This will help realise RSS\u2019s \u201cdream of a better country,\u201d RSS Joint General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said. Similar programs have been started for college students as well.<\/p>\n<p>Hosabale said such measures were being taken as the outfit was embracing modernity and concentrating on \u201cquality improvement\u201d to ensure that the current generation adopts its principles.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, it is eyeing IT professionals and engineers, and conducting weekly programs meant specifically to help inculcate \u2018social consciousness\u2019 in them.Hosabale, who was in\u00a0Kanpur\u00a0for a key meeting of RSS\u2019s regional pracharaks, said this was being done as they play a big role in the development of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Hosabale said the outfit has asked its swayamsewaks across the country to link up with those who apply for online membership in their respectrive districts, and bring them into the RSS fold.<\/p>\n<p>RSS claims that nearly 47,200 people, a majority of whom are youngsters, have applied for its membership online this year.
