{"id":117836,"date":"2018-04-02T16:16:36","date_gmt":"2018-04-02T10:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org\/?p=117836"},"modified":"2018-04-02T16:16:36","modified_gmt":"2018-04-02T10:46:36","slug":"hindu-temple-vandalised-portrait-of-gods-stained-with-mud-in-west-bengals-howrah-india-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=117836","title":{"rendered":"Hindu temple vandalised, portrait of Gods stained with mud in West Bengal&#8217;s Howrah | India Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>West Bengal&#8217;s Howrah district finds itself gripped in tension after a Hindu temple was found vandalised today morning in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The temple was ransacked, with portraits of Hindu Gods and Goddesses found stained with mud.<\/p>\n<p>Many eye-witnesses have come forward claiming to have seen miscreants throwing the saffron flag into a drain and vandalising trident (<em>trishul<\/em>) of Hindu Gods.<\/p>\n<p>Howrah is home to both Hindu and Muslim communities in vast numbers and with this latest incident, people from both the religions have condemned the act.<\/p>\n<p>They allege that this could have been engineered by outsiders as both the communities have been co-existing harmoniously for years.<\/p>\n<p>But the temple vandalisation has come in tow with celebrations of Islamic festival Urs- that saw night-long festivity in the area recently.<\/p>\n<p>The police has in the meanwhile appealed to the locals to remain calm as they undertake an investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>West Bengal&#8217;s Howrah district finds itself gripped in tension after a Hindu temple was found vandalised today morning in the area.
