{"id":11820,"date":"2016-07-07T06:52:23","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T06:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=11817&amp;preview_id=11817"},"modified":"2016-07-07T06:52:23","modified_gmt":"2016-07-07T06:52:23","slug":"on-the-eve-of-eid-rss-womens-wings-hindutva-turns-shrill-in-new-delhi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=11820","title":{"rendered":"On the Eve of Eid, RSS Women&#8217;s Wing&#8217;s Hindutva Turns Shrill in New Delhi"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n<p><strong>New Delhi:<\/strong> A day before Muslims across\u00a0the country celebrated Eid, the women\u2019s wing\u00a0of the RSS criticised the religion, going so far as to say \u201cIslam is not a religion, it\u2019s a political aggression\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On July 6, Asha Sharma, <em>Akhil Bharatiya Sahkaryavahika<\/em> of the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti, made shocking remarks against Muslims at the seminar, Religious Terrorism: A Global Threat, held in the capital, according to an\u00a0<a title=\"Indian Express\u00a0report\" href=\"http:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/india-news-india\/rss-women-wing-muslim-majority-terrorism-mentality-dhaka-attack-2898440\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><em>Indian Express\u00a0<\/em>report<\/a>. Advocating a stifling of minority voices in India, Sharma argued\u00a0that in places where Muslims account for 10% or less of the population, they remain passive and silent, but in larger numbers,\u00a0they become assertive and eventually stop listening to anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Making\u00a0crude historical linkages between Islam and violence, the report quotes\u00a0Sharma\u00a0as saying, \u201c<em>Jahan Islam jaata hai, wahan par vidhwans saath lekar ke gaya hai. Yah itihas hai, isko hum inkaar nahin sakte<\/em>\u201d (Wherever Islam goes, it brings destruction. This is history, we cannot deny this). In an obvious edification of Hindutva, she added that\u00a0the spread of Islam and Christianity is marked by illiteracy and education respectively, saying \u201c<em>Jahan shiksha hai, wahan Islam nahi hai<\/em>\u201d\u00a0(Where there\u2019s education, there is no Islam)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was the guest of honour at the event.\u00a0Mahajan echoed Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina\u00a0while talking about the July 1 terror attack in Dhaka, saying,\u00a0\u201cjo Ramzan ke dinon mein is prakaar s<em>e goliyaan chalane wala, Musalman ho hi nahin sakta<\/em>\u201d (those who open fire during Ramzan cannot be Muslims).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi: A day before Muslims across\u00a0the country celebrated Eid, the women\u2019s wing\u00a0of the RSS criticised the religion, going so far as to say \u201cIslam is not a religion, it\u2019s a political aggression\u201d.
