They performed special poojas, panchamruta abhishekam, palabhishekam (milk sprinkling with chanting mantras) and prayed for fulfillment of their wishes, by seeking blessings of the Guru.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 100%\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: justify\">The festival, which is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, is a mark of people\u2019s respect to their teachers and express their gratitude.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 100%\"><span style=\"text-align: justify\">Devotees from all over the twin cities thronged the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in large numbers and participated in the Guru Paduka pooja conducted by Brahamchari Raghunath Swami, disciple of Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi on the occasion of Guru Purnima.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 100%\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: justify\">The celebrations included Maha Ganapathy Homam, the \u2018Samskriti Pooja,\u2019 where students of Amrita Vidyalayam performed paduka pooja to their parents which was followed by the \u2018Maha Sarvaiswarya Yagnam.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 100%\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: justify\">In the satsang, Brahmachari Raghnath Swami said, \u201cImmense faith and surrender to guru helps the devotees to purify their hearts and make them selfless.
