{"id":1273,"date":"2020-03-17T18:04:24","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-global-press.pantheonsite.io\/?p=1273"},"modified":"2020-03-17T18:04:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:34:24","slug":"no-temple-annual-prayers-no-group-prayers-no-prasadam-for-devotees-over-covid-19-said-malaysia-hindu-sangam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=1273","title":{"rendered":"No temple annual prayers, no group prayers, no \u2018prasadam\u2019 for devotees over Covid-19, said Malaysia Hindu Sangam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-very-light-gray-background-color\"> MHS said that temples would also not organise&nbsp;<em>ubayams&nbsp;<\/em>(thanksgiving prayers) and there would be no special prayers during \u2018<em>Pradosham<\/em>\u2019 or \u2018<em>Durga Poojai<\/em>\u2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaymail.com\/news\/malaysia\/2020\/03\/16\/hindu-sangam-no-temple-annual-prayers-no-group-prayers-no-prasadam-for-devo\/1847231\">Malay Mail<\/a> has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>KUALA LUMPUR<\/strong>: Hindu temples in the country will have to postpone  their temple annual prayers or&nbsp;<em>thiruvizha<\/em>, and group prayers would not be allowed effective tomorrow, the Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The MHS said that temples would also not organise&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaymail.com\/news\/malaysia\/2020\/03\/16\/hindu-sangam-no-temple-annual-prayers-no-group-prayers-no-prasadam-for-devo\/1847231\">ubayams&nbsp;<\/a><\/em>(thanksgiving prayers) and there would be no special prayers during \u2018<em>Pradosham<\/em>\u2019 or \u2018<em>Durga Poojai<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<p> <em>ubayams<\/em>  is a special prayer session for Lord Shiva, while  \u2018<em>Pradosham<\/em>\u2019 is for the Mother Goddess. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Theertham, vibuthi, kumkumam<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>chantanam<\/em>&nbsp;will not be given to devotees.&nbsp;<em>Prasadam<\/em>&nbsp;and all other foods will no longer be served to devotees,\u201d the statement read further.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The former items mentioned are often applied on one\u2019s forehead after prayers, while&nbsp;<em>prasadam<\/em>&nbsp;are usually food items given by the temple priest to devotees.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>MHS also advised those aged 65 and above as well as those experiencing fever or flu-like symptoms to refrain from visiting temples.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease cooperate and comply with the instructions of the government, Health Ministry of Malaysia and Malaysia Hindu Sangam,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Earlier, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that Malaysia will be under a nationwide movement control order from this Wednesday (March 18) until March 31 due to the Covid-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The prime minister said that the government has decided to implement a \u2018restriction of movement order\u2019 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Muhyiddin said this means that all business premises have to be shut down, except for outlets such as supermarkets and grocery stores selling daily essentials.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He<a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaymail.com\/news\/malaysia\/2020\/03\/16\/hindu-sangam-no-temple-annual-prayers-no-group-prayers-no-prasadam-for-devo\/1847231\"> said<\/a> all government and private premises would be closed during the movement control order, except for essential services such as utilities, telecommunications, transport, banking, health, pharmacies, ports, airports, cleaning and food supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-very-light-gray-background-color\">Image Source:  www.malaysiahindusangam.org<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MHS said that temples would also not organise&nbsp;ubayams&nbsp;(thanksgiving prayers) and there would be no special prayers during \u2018Pradosham\u2019 or \u2018Durga Poojai\u2019, Malay Mail has reported.
