Every year the holy shrine witnesses a huge footfall of devotees during the Navratri celebrations. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Jammu and Kashmir administration had recently announced closure of the Vaishno Devi yatra and banned all  interstate buses as a precautionary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus. The temple authorities said only a few rituals are being observed at the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This is for the first time that the city of temples,<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/jammu\/mata-vaishno-devi-shrine-dons-deserted-look-as-navratri-begins\/articleshow\/74812582.cms\"> Jammu,<\/a> looks disolate on the first day of \u2018Chaitra Navratri\u2019 with most of the temples shut.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&#8216;The annual \u2018mahayagya\u2019 continued at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, apart from the ceremonies connected with Navratri,\u201d Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMDSV), Ramesh Kumar <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/jammu\/mata-vaishno-devi-shrine-dons-deserted-look-as-navratri-begins\/articleshow\/74812582.cms\">told<\/a>. Usually, a crowd of around 40,000 to 50,000 people throng the holy shrine on the first day of Navratri.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&#8216;I used to visit the cave shrine every year on the first day of Navratri to seek Mata Vaishno Devi\u2019s blessing. Though I am disappointed that I could not visit the shrine this time, it is a necessity to close the shrine in the wake of COVID-19 threat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The shrine, however, has decided to telecast live the \u2018darshan\u2019 of Holy Pindis Maa Vaishno Devi daily. &#8216;We have included a 2-minute darshan of holy pindis of Mata Vaishno Devi after conclusion of \u2018aarti\u2019 (prayer). This is being done to ensure that people get darshan of Mata in their homes during this Navratri,\u201d Kumar said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>People in Jammu are keeping nine-days fast and praying to \u2018Navdurga\u2019 to ward off the deadly pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu conveyed his greetings to the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Navratri and Navreh and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In his message, the Lt Governor expressed hope and prayed that the festival would become the harbinger of harmony, brotherhood, amity, peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/jammu\/mata-vaishno-devi-shrine-dons-deserted-look-as-navratri-begins\/articleshow\/74812582.cms\">Murmu<\/a> appealed to the people, including the devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, to stay indoors and pray at home during this Navratri.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-very-light-gray-background-color\">Image Source: holidayhai.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is for the first time that the city of temples, Jammu, looks disolate on the first day of \u2018Chaitra Navratri\u2019 with most of the temples shut, TOI has reported.
