Some devotees also staged dharna in front of the temple demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/states\/odisha\/2020\/mar\/04\/goddess-laxmi-idol-stolen-from-odisha-temple-investigation-underway-2111953.html\">The New Indian Express<\/a> has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>KENDRAPARA<\/strong>: Burglars broke into a Shiva temple in\nMalikeswarpur village within Derabishi police limits on Monday night and\ndecamped with an idol of Goddess Laxmi from the outer wall of the shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The idol was made up of black granite (Muguni) stone and was\nthree feet high. The idol weighs approximately one quintal. When priest\nPurusotam Padhi reached the temple on Tuesday morning and found the idol\nmissing. He then filed an FIR in the police station.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/states\/odisha\/2020\/mar\/04\/goddess-laxmi-idol-stolen-from-odisha-temple-investigation-underway-2111953.html\">Derabishi IIC<\/a>, Umakanta Nayak said a special team has been formed to investigate the theft. He said that the priests and locals were being questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>As the news of the theft <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/states\/odisha\/2020\/mar\/04\/goddess-laxmi-idol-stolen-from-odisha-temple-investigation-underway-2111953.html\">spread<\/a>, a large number of people gathered at the temple.
