He is considered as the Supreme most of the Hindu trinity which also includes Brahma (the creator) and Vishnu (the preserver). The Linga is worshipped by millions and on the occasion of Mahashivaratri, devotees of the Lord observe fasts and offer Puja overnight. And many visit the Jyotirlingas which are considered to be auspicious and the most radiant signs of Shiva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">There are twelve Jyotirlingas in India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Let\u2019s take a look at them:<\/p>\n<h2>Somnath<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/ste.india.com\/sites\/default\/files\/new-somnath.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Somnath in Gujarat is the same temple that was destroyed a number of times by foreign invaders. But in spite of being attacked time and again, the Jyotirlinga shrine stands tall facing the Arabian Ocean.<\/p>\n<h2>Mallikaarjuna<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/ste.india.com\/sites\/default\/files\/Mallikarjuna.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This Jyotirlinga is located in the Kunool Disrict of Andhra Pradesh. A beautifully crafted temple structure enshrines this Jyotirlinga.<\/p>\n<h2>Mahakaleshwar<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-3RasBDVFbRY\/TWIDt98Jx9I\/AAAAAAAAAbs\/5vv68s9PiYM\/s1600\/MahakaleshwarTemple1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/>The city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh is home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.<\/p>\n<h2>Omkareshwar<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/ste.india.com\/sites\/default\/files\/Omkareshwar.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This Jyotirlinga is in a temple built on the island of the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n<h2>Kedarnath<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/ste.india.com\/sites\/default\/files\/kedarnath_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This Jyotirlinga is closest to Lord Shiva\u2019s abode \u2013 Kailasa. The state of Uttarakhand is home to this shrine.<\/p>\n<h2>Bhimashankar<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/pedia.desibantu.com\/files\/2012\/12\/bhimashankar-art.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/>The actual location of this Jyotirlinga is debatable. But the Bhimashankar temple near Pune in Maharashtra is popularly believed to be the original one.<\/p>\n<h2>Kashi Vishwanath<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.onlineprasad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/kashi-collage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The holiest city of the Hindus \u2013 Kashi \u2013 is home to this Jyotirlinga which is considered to be the most scared of all the other shrines.<\/p>\n<h2>Trimbakeshwar<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"http:\/\/ste.india.com\/sites\/default\/files\/Triambakeshwar.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This Jyotirlinga is in Nasik, a city in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<h2>Vaidyanath<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/shivdarshan.org\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/blog_teaser\/public\/vaidyanath-jyotirling.jpg?itok=NzRRIAGE\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"600\" \/>This shrine is located in Jhakrkhand.<\/p>\n<h2>Aundha Nagnath<\/h2>\n<p>The exact location of the Aundha Nagnath shrine is also debatable.
