The annual festival, which celebrates its seventh edition this year is Shrusti Rakshati Rakshita (If you protect the environment, environment will protect you).<br \/>\nSupriya Komandur, joint secretary of Heritage, says, \u201cEvery year, we have a theme for the festival like sacred earth, mountain and rivers. The performers include these concepts in their performances.\u201d The theme of this year\u2019s event will be sacred flowers. It will be organised in different temples across the city on weekends starting today.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/images.newindianexpress.com\/uploads\/user\/ckeditor_images\/article\/2017\/1\/20\/Cheer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"296\" \/><figcaption>Performers of the Gudiya Sambhrama the<br \/>\nBengaluru Temple Festival 2017<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She adds, \u201cWe collected a lot of information about sacred flowers and will display them on the standees in the temples. Saplings will be presented as momentos. Everything we present will be organic.\u201d<br \/>\nSupriya says temples played a central role in the eco system of the society earlier.<br \/>\n\u201cAs temples are the places where youngsters also come, at least during the exam time, we would like to make use of the temple space and reach more people,\u201d she says, adding that the performance will be held in the open air spaces for the devotees to sit and watch. Renowned actor and dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar will present a Bharatnataym piece. There will be performances by Veena artist Jayanthi Kumaresh, a duet carnatic vocal by Rithvik Raja and Prasanna. Supriya adds, \u201cThere will be a performance by Yakshakala Academy. It\u2019s a troupe of young children performing Yakshagana.\u201d<br \/>\nThe presentation for the evening will begin with a special performance by an artist dedicated only to the main deity of the temple. \u201cThere will be no audience. It\u2019s meant only for the temple deity,\u201d she adds.
