In this effort they were helped by \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the king of the Y\u0101dava clan, who is the eighth divine incarnation of Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u. However, Duryodhana refused to yield even a needlepoint of land, and as a result, the Great War, the War of Mah\u0101bh\u0101rat ensued. In this war, various rulers of the entire nation that is modern India aligned with one or the other of these two clans, the Kauravas or the P\u0101n\u1e0davas.<br \/>\nK\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a offered to join with either of the two clans. He says, \u2018One of you may have Me unarmed. I will not take any part in the battle. The other may have my entire Y\u0101dava army.\u2019 When the offer was first made to Duryodhana, he predictably chose the large and well-armed Y\u0101dava army, N\u0101r\u0101ya\u1e47\u012b Sen\u0101, in preference to the unarmed K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.
