The Linga is a physical manifestation of the Supreme Being, who is also referred to as Lord Shiva \u2013 the god, who is often associated with destruction. Interestingly, destruction doesn\u2019t mean literal demolition of life but the annihilation of the vices that are inherent in humans.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">Hinduism, traditionally referred to as Sanatana Dharma has close association with nature or creation that is infinite. And Shiva, the most powerful of the Hindu trinity is often worshipped in his Linga form that symbolises the outward aspect of the formless.<\/div>\n<p>As we all know, nature is made of five elements \u2013 Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), Jal (Water), Prithivi (Earth) and Akash (Space). And there are temples dedicated to Shiva with Lingams that represent each of the elements.<\/p>\n<div id=\"inarticle_wrapper_div\"><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Ekambareswarar Temple<\/strong> in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu has the <em>Prithivi Lingam<\/em>. It represents <strong>Earth<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jambukeshwarar Temple<\/strong> in Thiruvanaikaval near Trichy, Tamil Nadu is home to the <em>Jambu Lingam<\/em>. It represents <strong>Water<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arunachaleswara Temple<\/strong> in Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu is the abode of the <em>Agni Lingam<\/em>. It represents <strong>Fire<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sri Kalahastheeswara Temple<\/strong> in Kalahasthi,\u00a0Andhra Pradesh has the <em>Vayu Lingam<\/em>. It represents <strong>Air<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thillai Natarajar Temple <\/strong>in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu is home to the <em>Akasha Lingam<\/em>.
