{"id":39945,"date":"2017-02-21T18:56:13","date_gmt":"2017-02-21T13:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org\/?p=39945"},"modified":"2017-02-21T18:56:13","modified_gmt":"2017-02-21T13:26:13","slug":"us-based-retailers-face-wrath-hindu-community-selling-ganesh-beers-om-shoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=39945","title":{"rendered":"US-based retailers face wrath of Hindu community for selling &#039;Ganesh&#039; beers, &#039;Om&#039; shoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi [India], Feb 21 (<a class=\"highlights\" href=\"http:\/\/aninews.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ANI<\/a>): Two US-based online retailers have come under the scanner for offending the religious sentiments of the Hindu community by selling beer with Lord Ganesha&#8217;s picture on its label and footwear sporting the Om symbol.<br \/>\nBharat Scouts and Guides commissioner Naresh Kadyan lodged two complaints against the website yeswevibe.com for selling shoes with the Om symbol and another against lostcoast.com for using Lord Ganesha&#8217;s image on beer bottle packaging and labels.<br \/>\nKadyan wrote the first letter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to register an FIR against the websites and asked them ensure that the products are removed from sale.<br \/>\nThe second complaint was filed at Delhi&#8217;s Prashant Vihar police station, in which it was stated that the symbol Om is affiliated with religious feelings and beliefs of Hindu communities across the globe.<br \/>\n&#8216;Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs, violated the different sections of the laws of land, including 295 A and 153 A of the IPC,&#8217; reads the complaint. (<a class=\"highlights\" href=\"http:\/\/aninews.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ANI<\/a>)<br \/>\nEarlier in June last year, online marketplace Amazon also faced ire of the people for selling door mats with Hindu gods printed on them.<br \/>\nMatters got worse after Islamic themed doormats were also spotted online.<br \/>\nLater Amazon had to remove the products from their site.
