Mahashivratri, the Hindu festival observed annually in honour of god Shiva, will be celebrated with pomp and grandeur this year too on February 24. Commemorating the festival, the devotees fast through out the day. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a 112-ft tall face of Adiyogi \u2014 the Source of Yoga, designed and consecrated by Sadhguru, founder, Isha Foundation, on Mahashivratri on February 24 at the Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The iconic face symbolises liberation, representing the 112 ways in which one can attain to one\u2019s ultimate through the science of yoga.<\/p>\n

As the city soaks in the festival of Mahashivratri, in reverence of lord Shiva, here\u2019s looking at some events happening in the Capital.<\/p>\n

The Hindi play, Mahadev, based on the life of the lord.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mahadev<\/b>: Revisit the tales from Shiva\u2019s life with this Hindi play, Mahadev by Sanskriti Theatre Group. Directed by Rajeev Raj Gupta, the two-hour long mythological play showcases the tale, where king Daksha, father of Sati, hosted a grand yajna, wherein all gods were invited, with the exception of Shiva. The play deals with Shiva\u2019s ordeal of seeing Sati\u2019s lifeless body, Sati\u2019s rebirth as goddess Parvati and her marriage to Lord Shiva.

The concert shall commence with Rudrachamakam \u2014 the vedic chants of Shiva, followed by performances by artists, such as Gundecha Brothers, Raja Radha Reddy, Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Rajendra Gangani, Aditi Sharma, Shashrek Amabardar, among others.

The evening will see facilitators Ashwin Bharti, Ma Prem Bhakti take the attendees through the ancient Prana Urja Breathwork that lets one connect to the centre of our being and to the third eye, i.e connecting ourselves with the centre of our intuition.
