Devotees in thousands took holy dips in the Sangameswaram on the banks of river Krishna before offering \u2018archana\u2019 to the deity. Many also offered \u2018harathi\u2019 to the \u2018chaduvula thalli\u2019 Kolanu Bharati after undertaking fasts.<br \/>\nThe festival was marked by \u2018jagaranalu\u2019 and midnight \u2018kalyanotsavalu\u2019. There were more pilgrims from Telangana at temples in Sangameswaram, Kolanu Bharati, Omkaram, Mahanandi, Rudrakotiswaram, Gunda Bramheswaram and Gupta Maheswaram. They reached the shrines in mechanised boats. \u00a0Chants in praise of Lord Siva rent the air. With the Krishna river drying up, the Shiva Lingam surfaced much to the delight of the devotees and the archakas of the various temples.<br \/>\nIn the Kolanu Bharati temple, devotional and educational activities like \u2018akshara bhyasam\u2019, \u2018archana\u2019 and \u2018homam\u2019 were organised. Devotees awaited darshan of \u2018jyoti\u2019 at midnight in Rudrakoteswaram. Traditional dances were among the events organised to welcome the devotees to the various temples.<br \/>\nSangameswara temple Executive Officer Nagaprasad made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the large number of pilgrims from the two Telugu States.
