A close second in fame is its basement canteen serving authentic Tamil Nadu fare <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.seriouseats.com\/2013\/10\/best-indian-dosa-nyc-ganesh-temple-flushing.html\">starring<\/a> the dosa, a crepe made from fermented rice and lentils.<br \/>\nTaste your way through it all, alongside several dishes usually reserved for Indian weddings held at the temple, on Feb. 28, when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/queensdinnerclub\/\">Queens Dinner Club<\/a> holds its first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/queens-dinner-club-presents-a-passage-to-south-india-tickets-32164959259?aff=es2\">vegetarian feast<\/a>. The club, founded by a chef and a food writer with the mission of bringing together food-loving people, has arranged for a special menu of culinary highlights from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, in addition to some of the canteen&#8217;s most popular dishes.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42620\" src=\"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/ganesh-temple-cafeteria-matt-flickr-copy.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"858\" height=\"540\" \/><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/queens-dinner-club-presents-a-passage-to-south-india-tickets-32164959259?aff=es2\">A Passage to South India<\/a> will begin with a tour of the temple, whose elephant-headed patron saint Ganesha of new beginnings and removing obstacles decorates the rows of stone columns lining its entryway. The three-hour feast features dishes you know and love (crispy onion fritters) and new favorites (<i>bisi bele bath<\/i>, rich lentil masala stewed with rice), ending with an assortment of desserts including Ganesha\u2019s favored laddu.<br \/>\nThe evening begins at 7:15 p.m.; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/queens-dinner-club-presents-a-passage-to-south-india-tickets-32164959259?aff=es2\">tickets<\/a> are $35.
