Poornima, Additional Deputy Commissioner, told <em>The Hindu<\/em>. The temple was built during the reign of the Ganga dynasty in the 9th century. A 30-kg kalasha had fallen from the \u2018Gopura\u2019 in 2013. Subsequently, the remaining four kalashas were also removed from the tower.<\/p>\n<p>Dearth of funds had been delaying the renovation works as at least 2 kg of gold was required for the coating works. \u201cThe donors wanted to remain anonymous,\u201d Ms. Poornima told <em>The Hindu<\/em>.
