{"id":5682,"date":"2016-06-12T22:36:04","date_gmt":"2016-06-12T22:36:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=5679&amp;preview_id=5679"},"modified":"2016-06-12T22:36:04","modified_gmt":"2016-06-12T22:36:04","slug":"yoga-medals-proposed-for-paramilitary-troops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=5682","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Yoga medals\u2019 proposed for paramilitary troops &#8211; The Hindu"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h3>Modi government planning to re-employ retiring personnel of Central forces as master Yoga trainers to create a constant resource pool of teachers<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body\">With the country set to celebrate the second International Yoga Day (IYD) on June 21, the government has proposed instituting \u2018Yoga medals\u2019 for Central paramilitary troops for displaying exceptional skills in the ancient discipline for physical, mental and spiritual well being.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">Besides, it has planned to re-employ retiring personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces as Master Yoga Trainers in order to create a constant resource pool of teachers for about 9 lakh personnel of the CRPF, the CISF, the ITBP, the SSB and the BSF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\"><b>Yoga Day<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The two decisions were taken at a meeting attended by top officers of these forces and the Union Home Ministry recently where it was resolved that close to 30,000 personnel will take part in IYD in various State capitals and other prominent cities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">In Chandigarh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lead the IYD event, over 2,000 troops, largely drawn from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, will participate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\"><b>Panel set up<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As per a blueprint prepared in this regard, also accessed by PTI, a committee has been formed under country\u2019s largest paramilitary CRPF which will \u201csuggest modalities\u201d for awarding Yoga medals to those personnel who have \u201cexcelled\u201d in not only performing the various \u2018asanas\u2019 deftly but also having a good track record as a Yoga teacher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">Each of these forces \u2014 the Central Reserve Police Force, the Central Industrial Security Force, the Border Security Force, the ITBP and the Sashastra Seema Bal \u2014 has been asked to \u201cidentify\u201d such personnel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">It is also essential that those selected for the medal display their skills during the IYD this year. The forces have been directed to provide inputs with regard to Master Yoga Trainers in their establishments who could be decorated with the medal.
