{"id":583,"date":"2020-03-07T00:56:03","date_gmt":"2020-03-07T05:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-global-press.pantheonsite.io\/?p=583"},"modified":"2020-03-07T00:56:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-07T05:56:03","slug":"prasar-bharati-ceo-declines-invite-by-bbc-because-of-its-biased-coverage-of-anti-hindu-delhi-riots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=583","title":{"rendered":"Prasar Bharati CEO declines invite by BBC because of its biased coverage of Anti-Hindu Delhi riots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"color:#606d77\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-background-color\">In a massive embarrassment to controversial British national broadcaster, BBC, Prasar Bharati chief executive Shashi Shekhar Vempati has rejected an offer to attend one of their event citing one-sided reportage of the Anti-Hindu riots in Delhi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opindia.com\/2020\/03\/prasar-bharti-shashi-shekhar-ceo-bbc-invite-reject-biased-reporting\/?fbclid=IwAR0hm8yA_KV-dUOr9ONNvYsjify30Q-s1DPYBp0hDdNUZKd1hfROJl35eQc\">OpIndia<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In a written letter to Tony Hall, the Director-General of the BBC, Shashi Shekhar Vempati has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opindia.com\/2020\/03\/prasar-bharti-shashi-shekhar-ceo-bbc-invite-reject-biased-reporting\/?fbclid=IwAR0hm8yA_KV-dUOr9ONNvYsjify30Q-s1DPYBp0hDdNUZKd1hfROJl35eQc\">declined<\/a> the invitation to attend the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Awards Night; the first such award ceremony hosted by the BBC.<\/p>\n\n\n<p> Vempati  cited a report of the BBC by Yogita Limaye from March 3, 2020, in which he feels that BBC has used certain visuals to show one-sided stories on Delhi police. He further added that BBC nowhere attempted to report stories regarding the violent attack\u00a0on police personnel, including the death of Delhi police constable Ratan Lal and IB employee Ankit Sharma, who was allegedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opindia.com\/2020\/03\/prasar-bharti-shashi-shekhar-ceo-bbc-invite-reject-biased-reporting\/?fbclid=IwAR0hm8yA_KV-dUOr9ONNvYsjify30Q-s1DPYBp0hDdNUZKd1hfROJl35eQc\">murdered<\/a>\u00a0by AAP leader Tahir Hussain and Muslim mobs during the anti-Hindu riots. <\/p>\n\n\n<p> In her<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opindia.com\/2020\/03\/prasar-bharti-shashi-shekhar-ceo-bbc-invite-reject-biased-reporting\/?fbclid=IwAR0hm8yA_KV-dUOr9ONNvYsjify30Q-s1DPYBp0hDdNUZKd1hfROJl35eQc\">\u00a0report<\/a>, Limaye says that while Delhi Police are meant to protect all of India\u2019s people, \u201cbut here, Police are seen with Hindus throwing stones towards Muslims.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n<p>However, Limaye does not mention about the attacks on IB Sleuth Ankit Sharma and constable Ratan Lal where Lal later succumbed to injuries of the rioting Muslim mob.
