(Source: File Photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"custom-caption\">\u00a0<\/span>Amid the ongoing yoga festival in the city, Punjab and Haryana Governor and UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki emphasised on making yoga a part of school and college curriculam.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a seminar organised as a part of the Chandigarh Yoga Festival celebrations, the governor said: \u201cWith the youth forming the majority population of the country, yoga is crucial for their optimum health, well being and longevity. It is the only means to integrate human faculties of mind, body, soul, and intellect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The function was attended by speakers from across the country, including Dr H R Nagendra, the chancellor of S-VYASA Deemed University; Sanjay Vasant Deshmukh, the vice-chancellor of University Of Mumbai; Ravinder Sathe, the executive officer of Rambhau Mhalgi Prab odhini, Mumbai, CII Chandigarh Council Chairman, Dr Dinesh Dua.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar was held to discuss the positive impacts of yoga in lifestyle. Nagendra of Deemed University said: \u201cNot only India, but the whole world has wholeheartedly embraced yoga. Benefits of yoga in curing all modern-day diseases has been proved. The institutionalisation of yoga has been agreed upon by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and endorsed by the Supreme Court as well.\u201dUnderlying the facts of having to deal with the pressures of a hectic and a competitive lifestyle is decreasing the life expectancy more and more people are dying with ailments of heart giving light on the issue Sanjay Vasant Deshmukh, vice-chancellor, University of Mumbai, said: \u201cAverage life expectancy in India is 67 years, but in industrial centres like Mumbai, it has gone down to 52 years. People all over are suffering from sleep disorders.\u00a0It has been observed that majority of people suffer heart attacks in their sleep. Pressure of performance is leading to diseases like blood pressure and diabetes.
