{"id":6608,"date":"2016-03-30T02:40:50","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T02:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalpress.hinduismnow.org?p=6605&amp;preview_id=6605"},"modified":"2016-03-30T02:40:50","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T02:40:50","slug":"ichr-clears-plan-to-revive-gurukul-tradition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpress-new.hinduismnow.org\/?p=6608","title":{"rendered":"ICHR clears plan to revive gurukul tradition | The Indian Express"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"full-details\">\n<p>The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) Tuesday approved a new fellowship aimed at \u201cReviving the gurukul tradition\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by The Indian Express, the council held its meeting on Tuesday in which all members decided to start a new scheme under which ICHR will provide research assistants to historians working on ancient Indian history.<\/p>\n<p>Like the gurukul tradition in which the guru and shishya (student) live together as equals and the latter gains knowledge from this experience, under the new scheme, the historian, in exchange of the research assistant\u2019s help, will train the understudy in his area of expertise. The ICHR will pay a monthly renumeration to the assistant and an annual contingency grant for two years to the historian.
