Jaipur: The district administration and Jaipur police shifted the several years old Pipleshwar Mahadev Temple from Badi Chaupar area on Wednesday amid heavy security arrangements. The police had locked down the temple and the media was allowed only after idols were placed on a special car decorated with garlands and flowers. “This is a very challenging hour for our family. My family has been the custodian of these idols for past several years. We were not even allowed to go inside to worship before the idols were shifted,” said Bhaskar Vyas, member of the family that runs the temple.

After rumours about damage being done to the idols spread, the administration denied the allegations and said that entire process was carefully conducted under the close vigil of police personnel and district administration officials.

Temple idols were placed on a special ca decorated with garlands ad flowers before being relocated.

“The idols will be shifted to another temple in Tripolia Bazaar. We have already earmarked a place where temples like such would be relocated. The entire process was carried out with the support of priest of the temple,” said a JDA official.

Anshuman Bhomia, DCP (North) said that all the important steps were taken by the police in order to avoid any religious objections. “Pundits offered prayers and only after that we started to shift the temple,” he added.

The temple was falling within the area which has been marked for the construction of the Jaipur Metro. The police had cordoned off the entire area in the morning itself to avoid any problem.
