Demanding that Hindus, workers of pro-Hindu organisations, including RSS and BJP, be protected from alleged attacks by miscreants in Kerala, hundreds of activists of Prajatantra Ulisi Vedike and pro-Hindu organisations staged a demonstration and a rally in Yadgir on Wednesday.

The protesters, who gathered at the Hanuman temple near Government Degree College here and took out a procession march from there to the Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office via Subhashchandra Chowk and Shashtry Chowk, shouted slogan against workers of the CPI(M) for allegedly indulging in violence against Hindu organisations in Kerala and also criticised Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan for not initiating action against the culprits so far.

They stated in a memorandum addressed to President Pranab Mukherjee through the Deputy Commissioner that houses of RSS and BJP workers were attacked in Kozhikode district and a woman was brutally killed by a mob in Kannur district. Therefore, people from the Hindu community were forced to live in fear. However, no action was being taken by the State government, the protesters added.

Addressing the gathering, C.M. Pattedar, senior leader and journalist, condemned the statements by Mr. Vijayan during his recent visit to Mangaluru and said that Communists are outsiders and they have little loyalty to the country. Therefore, they should learn to be patriotic, he said.

The former MLA Veerbasant Reddy Mudnal said that one cannot teach patriotism to people as it should come from inside. The situation in Kerala has becoming worse as the brutal attacks targeting the Hindu have continued unabated, he alleged and urged the President to advise Mr. Vijayan to protect citizens and ensure that law and order prevails in the State.

Nagaratna Kuppi, vice-president of the BJP State unit, and Chandrashekhar Maganur, president of the district Unit of the BJP, spoke.

Ambayya Shabadi, conveyor of vedike, and others were present.
