Jayashnkar Bhupalpally: The works for the reconstruction of Siva temple at Jakaram village in the district began on Friday, thanks to the state government sanctioning Rs one crore funds for the reconstruction of the temple.
Minister for Archaeology and Tourism Azmeera Chandulal, who has formally launched the works by breaking a coconut at the temple at Jakaram village on Friday, said that the temples in Telangana were put to neglect by the previous governments mainly led by Andhra rulers.
“But chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao is striving to see that the temples in Telangana regain their past glory by allotting huge funds,” he said and added that the state government is also taking steps for the construction of all the temples that were dismantled in Mulugu Assembly constituency.
“I appeal to the the authorities of the Archaeology department to take steps to bring several temples at Pambapur, Laxmidevipet and Katapur villahges, which had slipped into oblivion, to light by conducting a survey,” he said.
Director of Department of Archaeology NR Visalatchi said that they had initiated steps for the conservation works of Panchakuta temple at Ramanujapur village in Bhupalapally district and Trikuta temple at Kondaparthi, Inavolu mandal in Warangal Urban district.
“Efforts are also on to take up repairs for the Ekaveera temple at Mogilicherla village on the outskirts of the Warangal city,” she added.
Archaeology department special officer SS Rangacharyluu, Deputy Director K Padmanabha, Assistant Director Ramulu Naik, Assistnat Director, Warangal, Ganga Devi, Archaeolgy enthusiast Aravind Arya Pakide have participated in the programme.
