Kanpur Police arrested a Muslim Abdul Razzak for spreading communal hatred

In the video, the accused allegedly remarked that opening up markets before Eid is a conspiracy to benefit Hindu traders, reported by facebook page Documenting Crimes Against Hindus.

A man, identified as Abdul Razzak, has been arrested by the Kanpur Police for allegedly inciting communal hatred after a video of him urging people from Muslim community not to shop this Eid since it will benefit Hindu traders went viral on social media platforms.

In the video, the accused allegedly remarked that opening up markets before Eid is a conspiracy to benefit Hindu traders. Moreover, he also said that it was done deliberately to level allegations against Muslims of spreading the COVID-19 infection. Taking cognizance of the viral video, the local police swung into action and arrested Razzak.

He has been booked by Kanpur police under 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups), 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease danger­ous to life), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease danger­ous to life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the Epidemic Act at the Gwaltoli police station of Kanpur.
