The local villagers said there has been a hike in activities of religious conversions in the village and around, reported by facebook page Documenting Crimes against Hindus.

Janjgir, Champa: 200 year old idol of Maa Chandi Devi was vandalised and found from a nearby pond after it went missing from it’s temple shrine in village Pachauri of Janjgir Champa. The act was not a case of of theft as other idols, jewellery and silver in the temple were left untouched. This was an attack on the faith of Hindu society and Hindu beliefs as the perpetrators stole only the primary idol, destroyed and then dumped into the pond.

Idol of Shani Dev and a Shivalinga too were similarly found missing from other main temples in the village.

The local villagers said there has been a hike in activities of religious conversions in the village and around. They are of the suspicion that possibly this act of demolishing and stealing the idols was carried by those religious conversion groups.

Police, as of now, has registered case against unknown miscreants and carrying out their investigation on its basis.
