A gardener, Kaluram, who stayed on the temple premises, saw that locks on the inner door of the temple were open.He immediately raised an alarm after which people gathered at the spot. Thereafter, they found that apart from the idols, ornaments like silver crown and chhatra were missing.
Police officials reached the spot and sealed the temple for investigations. Dog squad was also summoned to trace the culprits. Police suspect that the thieves had gained entry into the temple at midnight. The locks to the main gate were intact, indicating that they must have scaled the boundary walls. The broke the inner door locks and entered the temple.
Meanwhile, local traders claimed that items worth Rs7 lakh were stolen. Infuriated by the theft, they called for a bandh in Susner. They also took out a rally in the main market demanding immediate arrest of the accused. The protesters also demanded more security and police patrolling in the locality to avert any untoward incidents.
