Tirupati: The traditional temple cleansing fete, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was performed in Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Tirupati on Friday in view of annual Brahmotsavams in the temple which commences from March 23.

As a part of the religious event, the entire temple premises is cleaned with an aromatic mixture consisting of Kicchili Gadda(a root vegetable), Turmeric, Vermilion, Sandal Paste which was applied to the roofs, walls, pillars of the temple, which acts as a traditional disinfectant apart from being a cleanser.

This celestial event was carried out in the temple from 6am to 9am on Friday and the religious staff and office staff of the temple participated in the cleansing activity.

Temple DyEO Smt Shanti, AEO Sri Durgaraju, Superintendent Sri Ramesh and other staff members were also present. (TTD News)
