AYODHYA: 12 ancient temples abandoned on Ram Janmabhoomi premises are on plans to get a renovation, along with the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya,
These ancient temples are located on the 67.77 acre, which was acquired by the then Central government in 1993.
Chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi temple Acharya Satyendra Das said, “About a dozen temples on the Ram Janmabhoomi premises including Ram Janmasthan, Sita Rasoi, Sakshi Gopal temple, Ram Khazana temple, Sheshavtaar temple, Anand Bhavan temple, Sumitra Bhavan temple, Kaikai Bhawan temple and Vishwamitra Ashram temple-all temples of Lord Rama-have existed for years but no prayers are offered.”
In 1993, Devotees were restricted from entering the premises. However, from 1993 till 2000, the temple priests managed to maintain these temples. The maintenance expenses also were made by the money in the donation box of the temporary Ram Lalla temple.
However, in 2000, authorities did not allow the amount from being used by other temples. Besides, even entry of priests was restricted in these temples.
Thereafter, these temples began to crumble, said Acharya Das.
Member of Ram temple trust Dr Anil Mishra said, “A list of temples in dilapidated condition on the Ram Janmabhoomi premises is being prepared. The trust is working on a plan to renovate these temples and restart worship in these.”
