Jalukbari Police arrested one person for looting temples

The accused, Rezak Ali, was held by the public from a residence in Dharapur Chariali and was later handed over to the police, The Sentinel has reported.

GUWAHATI: The Jalukbari Police has arrested a person regarding a case of temple looting in Lankeswar and Dharapur.

The accused, Rezak Ali, was held by the public from a residence in Dharapur Chariali and was later handed over to the police. 

Coins of several thousand rupees and equipment have been recovered by police from the accused which the perpetrators used to break the locks.

The Lankeswar Dham Managing Committee confirmed that Ali was involved in the theft incidents after checking the CCTV footages of the temples. According to reports, in the day time Ali pretends to be a mentally unstable person to avoid any suspicion against him.
