Nithya Kriyas are a series of steps, which include pranayamas (breathing techniques) and asanas (body positions), evolved by the Nithyananda Peetham as part of their Nithya Yoga program. A total of 108 kriyas were evolved for the care or cure of various diseases. Here we cover the cure for diabetes.

1. ANILA ASANA

TECHNIQUE
- Come to a full squat posture
- Place the hands below the feet, palms facing down
- Keep the arms straight, elbows joined together at the navel (Option: If you cannot hold the squat position, you can sit on the ground)
- Fix the gaze at the nose.
- Remain in this pose 30 seconds

TECHNIQUE
- Sit in same asana and keep the spine straight. Head should be up and eyes open
- Take a deep breath in and exhale completely, but do not be forceful
- After exhaling, perform jaalandhara bandha by moving the chin down to the chest and raising the shoulders
- Pull the abdominal muscles inward so that the organs of the abdomen touch the back muscles
- Hold for as long as you can
- When you can’t hold anymore, before inhaling, relax the stomach and abdomen, release jaalandhara bandha by raising the head
- Then inhale through the nostrils slowly
- Before repeating another round, breathe normally for a minute or two
- Initially start with practising the sequence 3 times and gradually increase upto 10 times

3. BHASTRIKAA KUMBHAKA

TECHNIQUE
- Inhale slowly expanding the stomach
- Exhale slowly
- Do this 21 times
- After 21 times, Now inhale slowly
- Hold the breath as long as you can
- When you feel you can’t hold quickly expel the air with the sound of bellows. At this moment the stomach should contract to touch the back (This is one Bhastrikaa)
- Do this complete sequence 3 times

4. MOORCCHAA KUMBHAKA
HATHA PRADEEPIKAA, CHAPTER 4, VERSE 60 (More)
TECHNIQUE
1. Sit in same asana
2. Place the palms of the hands on the knees and close the eyes
3. Inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils
4. After inhaling, immediately, do jaalandhara Bandha by putting your chin on the chest and locking the throat
5. Hold the breath as long as you can, When you feel you cant hold, immediately exhale through both nostrils in a very controlled manner in jaalandhara bandha itself
6. Do this 21 times

TECHNIQUE
- Close your ears with hands and close your eyes and hum intensely.
- Do this for 7 minutes
Eat something immediately within 10-15 minutes
