Ujjain: The local police and civil administration on Monday started giving final touches to the darshan, traffic and security arrangements in view of the Mahashivratri festival falling on February 24.
On one hand, SP Manohar Verma carried out a marathon inspection of the darshan and security arrangements at Mahakaleshwar Temple and also reached dozens of places on foot to see the parking arrangements. All the TIs of the district along with other senior officials were called here on the day to apprise them on their tasks. The police staff would be deputed for the Mahashivratri arrangements from February 23.
On the other hand, ADM Narendra Suryavanshi reviewed the darshan arrangements. The darshan of the Mahakal Jyotirlingam will start from the wee hours of February 24 and continue till 11 pm of February 25. Dopahar bhasmarti, which is held only once a year, will be held on February 25. During three days, there will be total ban on the entry of devotees to the sanctum-sanctorum, as was told to the revenue officers concerned.
