Spiritual orator Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma has carved a niche for himself by presenting the essence of scriptures in a lucid manner so that they can be easily understood by the layman.
The scholar is now working on a project of setting tune to over 1,000 ‘keertanalu’ penned by him to spread the greatness of the divine couple of Lord Siva and his consort Sakthi, says Mr. Sarma, who has made his first audio album in association with noted playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam.
With over 250 to 300 ‘keertanalu’ being already available in social media, he has roped in SPB and classical devotional singer Garimella Balakrishnaprasad to lend their voice so that all his ‘keertanalu’ could reach a wider audience, says Mr. Sarma. He was here to enlighten the people on the significance of ‘Lalita Sahasranamam’.

Widely travelled within and outside the country, he has made a successful foray into the tinsel world by writing lyrics for several Telugu films. But he does not want to remain a lyricist and preferred to pursue his goal of spiritual development and help people understand the essence of Hindu scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas, he explains.

Call to youth
Youth should develop interest in knowing more about the nation’s great cultural past as the Vedas provide all that is needed for the overall development of individuals. Members of GenX should go back to the past, realising that modernism does not mean western culture, he says.
