Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday visited the famous Omkareshwar temple along with his wife and performed puja-archana and jalabhishek. The Chief Minister gathered information about the geographical situation of ancient Omkareshwar Mahadev temple from the pundits, vaastukar and officials.
The Chief Minister also took information from Ghanshyam Bhai Sompura who renovated the temple earlier. Chouhan said that it is a universal truth that the Shivalaya has to be in front of Nandi. After the Parmar period, the Omkareshwar Mahadev temple has been renovated several times. A new magnificent temple will be built based on a new concept keeping in mind all the facts related to the ancient Omkareshwar temple. Chouhan visited each part of the temple along with vaastukars and higher officials to evaluate the actual situation. Principal Secretary, Culture Manoj Shrivastava, Vaastukar Nitiin Shrimali, temple priest and sant-mahatmas were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Chouhan gathered information from the pundits about the temples situated on the other side of the Narmada river from Omkareshwar Mahadev temple. Looking at the large number of devotees and after gathering information about the history of Vishnupuri, Brahmapuri and Mamleshwar, Chouhan issued instructions to plan a skyway between the three places to create a supernatural feeling among the devotees.
Chouhan gave instructions to chalk out a new plan keeping in mind the ancient glory and vaastukala of the Omkareshwar Mahadev temple. He said the entire Omkar mountain should be covered with dense forest. Chouhan said that preparations to plant saplings on the entire mountain in one day should be started immediately. It was informed that 25 thousand saplings were ready to be planted on the mountain. Fast growing and shady plants have been selected for plantation.
Chouhan performed puja at the Adi Shankarachaya cave. He told Principal Secretary, Culture Manoj Shrivastava that pictures based on the life and life values of Shankaracharya should be painted inside the cave. Shankar Museum should be planned in some other place apart from the cave. Chouhan said that keeping the pillars of the cave untouched construction work should be started with sone-loha on the lines of Somnath temple.
