CHIEF Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with his wife Sadhana Singh on Thursday visited the famous Omkareshwar temple and performed ‘Puja-archana’ and ‘Jalabhishek’. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gathered information about geographical situation of ancient Omkareshwar Mahadev temple from pandits, vaastukar and officials. The Chief Minister also took information from Ghanshyam Bhai Sompura who had renovated the temple earlier.
Chouhan said that it is an universal truth that Shivalaya has to be in front of Nandi. After Parmar period, Omkareshwar Mahadev temple has been renovated several times. A new magnificent temple will be built based on a new concept keeping in mind all the facts related to the ancient Omkareshwar temple.
Chouhan visited every part of the temple along with vaastukars and higher officials to evaluate the actual situation. Principal Secretary of Culture Manoj Shrivastava, Vaastukar Nitin Shrimali, temple priest and saint, mahatmas were present .
Chief Minister Chouhan gathered information from pandits about temples situated on the other side of the Narmada river from Omkareshwar Mahadev temple. Looking at the large number of devotees and after gathering information about history of Vishnupuri, Brahmapuri and Mamleshwar, Chouhan issued instructions to plan a skyway between the three places to create a supernatural feeling among devotees.
Chief Minister Chouhan instructed to chalk out a new plan keeping in mind the ancient glory and vaastukala of the Omkareshwar Mahadev temple. He said that the entire Omkar mountain should be covered with dense forest.
Chouhan said that, preparations to plant saplings on the entire mountain in one day should begin immediately.
It was informed that, 25,000 saplings were ready to be planted on the mountain. Fast growing and shady plants have been selected for plantation. Chouhan performed ‘puja-archana’ at Adi Shankarachaya cave. He told Principal Secretary of Culture Manoj Shrivastava said that pictures based on life values of Shankaracharya should be painted inside the cave. Shankar Museum should be planned in some other place apart from the cave. Chouhan said that, keeping pillars of the cave untouched construction work should be started with sone, loha on lines of Somnath temple.
