Godown near Sree Padmanabhaswamy catches fire, two injured

A fire broke out on premises of a godown housed close to the northern gate of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram early on Sunday.
According to fire department sources, the fire broke out at the western entrance of the temple and two offices of the archaeology department and a post office were completely gutted.
However, the temple is safe.
As many as 16 fire tenders were engaged in dousing the flames that was reported around 4 a.m. The fire is under control now. Two persons, including a commando of Kerala police, sustained injuries in the incident.


The RMS godown was fully gutted in the fire. The fire is suspected to have spread from the waste that was burnt nearby on Saturday night.

The godown  is located 25 metres away from the northern entrance of temple. Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
