Nalgonda: The Secretary of Tourism, Government of Telangana B Venkatesham has informed that funds would be soon sanctioned for development of historic temples at Panagal in the district.
The Secretary of Tourism on Saturday visited the ancient temples Chaya Someshwaralayam, Patchala Someshwaralayam and also Udhaya Samudram Balancing Reservoir at Panagal in the district. He has also examined the Archeology Museum at Panagal.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Venkatesham reminded that after formation of Telangana State, the government has initiated measures to re-write the history by unearthing our rich history and culture, which have been neglected by the earlier governments in united Andhra Pradesh. Stating that Kowlas Fort in Nizamabad district was bigger than Golkonda fort, he stated that efforts would be made to bring recognition to the fort in the tourism sector.
Terming the Chaya Someshwaralayam and Patchala Someshwaralayam as temples with mesmerizing ancient sculptures and structures, he said that the State government was contemplating to allocate funds in the coming budget for development of the two temples. Funds for Panagal festival would also be released by March end, he added.
“We are also examining the feasibilities to provide boating facilities in Udhaya Samudram Balancing Reservoir at Panagal”, he added.
Stating that development of the tourism places should be done through District Tourism Promotion Council, Venkatesham assured that the State government would extend support to the projects taken up by the local administration for development of tourist and historical places.
He has also opined that the local people of tourist and historic places should also behave respectfully with the tourists that would attract the more number of the tourists to their village. It would also lead to the development of their village, he maintained.
The district Collector Gaurav Uppal felt that there was a great potential for toruism development in the district as Nagarjana Sagar Project, Devarakonda fort and places in Chandampet mandal would attract the tourists more number in future. Remidning that RS 1 crores have been sanctioned by the government for development of Devarakonda fort, he informed that the works would be launched soon. An action plan would also be prepared for development of historic and tourist places in the district.
Historical Place Panagal Development Committee Chairman Konduri Satyanarayana has also submitted a memorandum to the Tourism Secretary demanding that the State government should take up chemical treatment of historic Chaya Someshwaralayam and Patchala Someshwaralayam, which was pending for the years.
