Elephant runs amok at Perambra in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: An elephant, that was brought for participating in a temple festival, ran amok at Perambra in Kozhikode on Sunday. The incident occurred around 7 pm when procession carrying a sword was in progress.
According to sources, three persons were on the elephant when it ran amok. The elephant walked slowly to a nearby plot and stood there.
Though large number of people followed the elephant and thronged to see the elephant but it did not attack any.

The elephant was later chained by the mahouts with the help of police and fire and rescue officials. Large number of people including those who had reached the spot for participating in the temple festival thronged the place. Vehicular movement was blocked on the Kuttiady-Puthiyangady state highway for more than two hours following the incident.
