Devotees and tourists can know some interesting facts about the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple – the foremost among the 108 ‘Divya Desams’- by downloading a mobile app which would act as a virtual guide providing a peek into the temple’s rich heritage and history.
The mobile app ‘Pinakin’ available for Android and Apple phones provides a wealth of information about the sprawling temple.
The free-to-download Pinakin app acts as an audio guide conveying a mosaic of information about the temple and its rich history in a lucid story format in Tamil and English for easier understanding of all, said Srikanth Iyer, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aseuro Technologies which developed the app.
The user-friendly app also contains information about Srirangam – an islet sandwiched between the Cauvery and Coleroon rivers – besides the temple timings.
The app contains numerous audio sections including temple mythology, temple history, about the Garudar Sannithi, Ranga Vimanam, Granary, Sesha Rayar Mandapam, 1000-pillar mandapam and Andal sannidhi describing interesting aspects connected with it.
A lot of effort has been taken to come out with this initiative by taking the assistance of historians who were well – versed about the temple and its rich history.
The whole objective is to convey to the people the richness and glorious heritage and culture of this temple that attracts thousands of devotees every day, Mr. Srikanth said adding that it was accessible to devotees and general public in their native language as well. The audio in Hindi would come out shortly.
The free audio guide was formally launched on Tuesday at the temple by Mr. Venu Srinivasan, chairman, Board of Trustees in the presence of temple officials.
