Be in Haridwar on March 20 to save Ganga, says India’s waterman

Addressing media persons Singh said, “We want everyone to participate in Ganga Sattyagraha that will be started by Swami Shivananda Saraswati on March 2, TOI has reported.

Dehradun: Environmrntalist Rajendra Singh,who is also known as ‘Waterman‘ of the country for his work water conservation, arrived at Matri Sadan Ashram in Haridwar on Thursday and met ashram head seer Shivananda Saraswati . The holy seer is on a fast-unto-death since last 72 hours to protect the river.

After meeting the holy saint, Singh asked the environmentalists from across the world to reach Matri Sadan on March 20 to make a strategy to save the river from various pollution creating elements like, mining mafias, hydro power plants and pollution.”

Addressing media persons Singh said, “We want everyone to participate in Ganga Sattyagraha that will be started by Swami Shivananda Saraswati on March 20. We will also commence the task of formulating a strategy to save the river which is struggling to save itself from immense anthropogenic pressure. In spite of ban on construction of dam on upper reaches of Ganga, the Government is going ahead in its plans. This is a threat to one of the largest water resource of the nation.”

Meanwhile, seer Padmavati who had been fasting for over 90 days for the Ganga cause, continues to be in the ICU of AIIMS-Delhi. She is suffering from neurological problems and unable to speak, as per the sources.
