The online booking has been started at Mata Ganga Niwas having 88 rooms and the facility will soon be available in other “serais” of the SGPC.

SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar said: “The idea is to facilitate the pilgrims who come to the Golden Temple. They can now book a room with a click of mouse.”

The pilgrims will have to log on to the SGPC website — www.sgpc.net or www.sgpcsarai.com — for the booking. The charges will Rs 500 per room.

He said one has to upload personal details and attach an identity proof on the web page to book a room. Rooms will only be booked for two persons (minimum) and not for more than two days. Payment for the room can also be made online.
