Punhana-Hodal road, Mewat, Haryana: In a brazen attack by cattle smugglers, 3 policemen were seriously injured while the gau-taskars managed to drive away with stolen cattle in Mewat region.

Skirmishes between notorious cattle thieves and villagers/police are very common in Mewat. In the latest incidence, the policemen were chasing a closed body container filled with stolen cows when the unscrupulous criminals rammed their vehicle in police PCR and sent it tumbling off road in a ditch. 3 policemen were injured, of which one Pawan Kumar broke his leg. The other two policemen also got serious injuries and all are admitted in hospital.

In an area where even policemen are not safe, imagine the plight of gaurakshaks and poor farmers who are trying to protect their domestic animals from being stolen out of their homes. The villagers have to keep a close watch all night and risk their life and limbs to save their livelihood from these notorious elements.
