“In Haridwar, everyone is earning money through Ganga, be it in the name of religion or tourism. Sadhvi Padmavati who is fighting to protect the river is not getting any support from residents of Haridwar” TOI has reported.

DEHRADUN: Head of Matri Sadan Swami Shri Shivanand Saraswati is on a hunger strike since March 10 to save Ganga, refused to end his fast on Saturday. He lamented that Sadhvi Padmavati, another seer of the ashram is also on a fast to protect the river and not getting support from the residents of Haridwar.

“In Haridwar, everyone is earning money through Ganga, be it in the name of religion or tourism. Sadhvi Padmavati who is fighting to protect the river is not getting any support from residents of Haridwar.”

And now Ganga aarti and temples in the city have shut down. This is an indication from mother nature to stop exploitation of Ganga,” he told.
To recall, Ganga aarti at Har-ki-Pauri and temples in the holy city have been closed to public in the wake of coronavirus threat.
