Maha Shivratri 2017: Here are five favourite prasadam to offer Lord Shiva

The Hindu calendar always gives us various reasons to celebrate throughout the year. And celebration calls for feast which means ‘Food’. We all have ‘that’ favourite dish of ours that we could die for. And how can our favourite supernatural being be behind the race? Yes, they too have their favourites.
With Shivratri around the corner, it’s time to please Lord Shiva by offering his favourite bhog or prasadam. When it comes to pleasing Lord Shiva it is never too difficult. May be that’s the reason he is called ‘bhoolenath’.
Here are five favourite bhog of Lord Shiva:

  • Bhaang

Bhaang
No doubt, Bhaang is the favourite food of Lord Shiva. The drink is made from crushed hemp leaves. It is also said that the drink helps to cure many ailments and get rid of all sorts of pain.

  • Milk

Milk
Milk or any sweet made with milk is offered on Shivratri. Devotees bath Shiv Linga with milk, water and honey.

  • Panchamrit

Panchamrita
Panchamrit is also one of the favourite bhog of Lord Shiva. The bhog is a mixture of five nectars –milk, honey, ghee, sugar and curd –in equal proportions.

  • Saffron

Saffron
Saffron, the aromatic flavouring spice is offered either raw or mixed with milk.

  • Rice

Rice
Cooked rice is also offered to the lord to ensure a long life and fulfilment of desires.
