Coronavirus Updates: Tirumala Tirupati Temple To Screen Devotees With Thermal Guns

The total devotees visiting the Tirumala Tirupati Temple is averaging around 75,000 per day, touching close to 1 lakh during weekends, SWARAJYA has rreeported.

Tirupati: Despite the requests to reschedule the temple visit for corona virus scare, by the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam , devotees are found to visit the holy temple in huge numbers. More than 75,000 devotees are visiting the temple every day.

With the arrival of vacation, the number of devotee is estimated to increase. To ensure the safety of everyone and restrict the spread of virus, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has advised devotees against visiting the Venkateswara temple even if they have even slightest symptoms of cold, sore throat or fever.

TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy said, “We have advised pilgrims not to come to the temple if they have symptoms of cold, sore throat or fever.”

A review meeting held by TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy and executive officer Anil Singhal, additional executive officer A V Dharma Reddy said, that all precautionary measures have been taken by the administration to prevent the spread of the virus.

Also, the decision of procuring thermal guns to screen the devotees before entering the main temple was also taken in that meeting.

The administration has ensured that the Devasthanam is sanitised regularly by special teams of the Health Department. Also, the staff have been provided with masks/hand sanitisers. Medical teams are on standby at the Alipiri security point and the main entrance to screen visibly sick persons and check their health condition.
