The liquid fertilizer, Tsuchi Ikikaeru — or “soil comes back to life” is now being sold in five countries including Vietnam and Cambodia, SWARAJYA has reported.

Japan: An organic products company in northern-Japan have created environment friendly fertilizer from cow’s urine.

Cow’s urine is the ancient means of fertilizer that helps maintain the soil fertility of farming lands, unlike the chemical fertilizers prepared by humans. A Japanese company recently has used the same technology to make a liquid fertilizer out of cow’s urine to retain the soil fertility of farming lands.

The liquid fertilizer, Tsuchi Ikikaeru — or “soil comes back to life” is now being sold in five countries including Vietnam and Cambodia.

The fertility of farming land in most areas of Southeast Asia has degraded, over the years due to longtime overuse of agro-chemicals. The liquid fertilizer from cow urine is advancing in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

Kankyo Daizen the company which collects the urine from dairy farmers in Hokkaido began exporting “Tsuchi Ikikaeru” to agricultural producers through two Japanese trading houses. Additionally, Kankyo Daizen has verified the effectiveness of its cow urine-derived products in tests conducted at the Kitami Institute of Technology.

Kankyo Daizen has managed to turn cow urine into natural soil conditioner and is winning new customers abroad. This is now fast growing into a good substitute for conventional agro-chemicals.

President Kankyo Daizen, Makoto Kubonouchi said, “Southeast Asia has a young and growing population and is is a promising market.”

Cow urine collected from farmers on the Japanese island of Hokkaido is being used to produce organic fertilizer and deodorizers. It also helps in maintaining soil fertility on the same farming land year after year.
